Mo,

I wouldn't give anyone a $100 limit. $50 max or less. If that means they have to pay every week, well PAY every week or put in enough of a payment to have a credit to carry you for the month. I'm sure after a month or 2 a seller has a good feel for how much his monthly fees will be.

I think your old site had a big line in the seller's account page of a $35/ month account spending limit. Any owner that doesn't use and ENFORCE a spending limit at their site shouldn't complain if their income doesn't meet their expectations. It's a business. You have to collect on bills due you. Otherwise those sellers are just NPBs too. The sellers bought listing space from you, the same as buyers bought items from them. Any seller that doesn't understand that deserves to be suspended til the bill is paid.

I tried to stay what the P.O. had put up... Yes, I am changing things ....  Also, phpprobid is much easier to have mods inserted... rscript is very manual.  I know sellers like it... but from the admin panel, its a nightmare.

I just really love the one where I sent an invoice for payment, and was asked what is the refund for?

Yah, I've been hearing more and more that Rscript isn't very "owner" friendly. But Php isn't very seller friendly. Too bad they couldn't somehow get the best parts of both together.

I wasn't totally speaking to you either about having "spending limits" and enforcing them. At PSU we've seen several site owners complain about sellers not paying their bills. Whos fault is that ?? Sure the seller should pay their bill. But if the owner doesn't enforce some penality like a suspension and just lets the seller rack up a bigger and bigger bill, the owner shares some responsibility when the seller runs off and leaves a big bill.

That's about the ONLY thing eBay has gotten mostly right. (I know sometimes their billing dept gets totally messed up) But if you don't pay your bill, you don't sell.

See, I had no trouble at all with probid... I had just left ebay, went to bidville, pureauctions, bid-alot and Ioffer... I didn't have that much inventory, wasn't that so difficult to convert to any  script. And I was such a novice.  Bid-alot and Pureauctions started as Auction Script sites... Pure auctions sank in the storms of 04.  And then bid-alot changed to phpprobid.

The the difference between rscipt and phpprobid is... rscript is written in perl, which is an archaic language and limited, and probid is written in php which is more modern and versatile. And there is a ton of support for phppb and hardly any for rscript.

Well it's back up and under a new script. Yep, PHPProBid this time. Take a look and we will watch how this new adventure for Ewaey.com turns out. I don't suspect many will be rushing back as the holiday online shopping season draws to a close but there is always people wanting exposure in the OAI so 08' looks to be Ewaey's new goal.

Quick Question here -
Isn't this the same place that recently closed down the site?

The one that didn't give notice to the sellers and kinda' left them hanging?

I mean, why would you close your auction site causing all those sellers to lose those listings and then reopen within a matter of days????

It can't be the same place.  This must be a different place, but I'm sure it was this ewaey name ?!?!?!

I remember reading about it and feeling so sorry for those sellers trying to keep those Holiday Sales going and to have the site closed with the click of a button was a brutal thing (at least I thought it was)

OK, I need to start a list of places to stay away from.

Yes...it is one and the same.  I haven't followed the Ewaey saga very closely myself, but apparently this isn't the first time.

That would be a good list to make!
