Well I guess something is sinking in with at least a few of the newbies. I've had a couple of decent exchanges this morning. The few that are bothering to listen and maybe ask a reasonable question are the ones that may make the jump eventually.

And the better advice to the people isn't asking them to abandon eBay if they need it to pay the bills. I think that's making a few of them feel better about the whole thing. It doesn't have to be "cold turkey". Use eBay if you must, but diversify and find out what works for you and eventually eBay won't be such a factor.

I just turned on the TV for the first time today - and there was an ebaY infomercial for some dude named Dave Esponito (or something).... 

So - soon....there will be even more new folks on the bay - cuz we all know how many Americans believe what they see!  And of course, one 'dude' suggested he was making $8/month...

OH MY GAWD!!  This is a perfect example of what is wrong with America today!

How much integrity can you have standing in line at the Welfare office or the Foodbank line? 

And these same morons that are hollering about the eBay fee increases are undoubtedly the Chicken Littles screaming about a recession.  Sure, go ahead, contribute to this "recession" (said tongue in cheek, because there is NO recession), and when you contribute to the financial and economic downfall of America, then what the hell are you going to do??!! 

What happen to the days of pride?  You went out, you busted your ass making your own way; only those with NO OTHER options resorted to government aid.  Seems that the pride has transferred to "Look how big my check is.  I did it without lifting a finger!"  Sorry, I thrive on real pride and intergrity.  And I'm proud to be an American; and being a real American means you work hard and do everything you can to support your family.  I don't think when my forefathers came here from Italy and France they intended for me to someday be saying, "eBay is screwing me. Give me a food stamps, welfare, and all the other freebies."  I think they would have whipped my ass into shape, told me to stop my f'ing whining, and go out and get a f'ing job!!!!! 

I'm sure that the founding fathers of this country probably spin constantly in their graves at the thought of what has happened to the attitude of many in this country.  If anyone has visited a historical grave site lately, did you hear a low hum coming from the ground??!!

My thoughts here may be unpopular with what I'm about to say...that's okay, I'll deal with it....but everyday I see people gathered outside that Welfare office here, and the majority of them I know are not here legally.  And because they are being handed the freebies that my breaking back and sweat supports, it pisses me off to no freakin' end!  We have provisions to get into this country legal, use them, damn it.  Cost too much?  Find a damn sponsor.  My family came into this country legal, so can f'ing yours.  But, why in the hell would I want to be "with them" when I can do it?  Now, heaven forbid, I have my own financial hardships, I'm glad it is there.  But I contributed and my intergrity kept me working until I had no other freakin' choice.

Ok, I'm pissed.  And my post slightly veers off into another topic that just puts a craw up ass.  But I am so freakin' sick and tired of the attitude in this country.  Give me a hand out, rather than work....because it's about MY pride.  F your pride; try some good old fashioned American pride. 

And America, you have choices?  You an be a lazy freakin' sot or you can not.  You can also choose not to do business with anyone who you feel is screwing you.  But because you choose not to be a consumer, does not mean you get to be a welfare case.  GET OFF YOUR ASS, READ THE DEFINITION OF INTEGRITY, AND GO DO SOMETHING, LOSER!

I've got a freakin' headache.  This whole idea just makes me want to give the shit out of the next freakin' idiot I see. 

My H says that, given current conditions, we're going to buy and island someday and get the hell out of here before the morons are running it.  I guess we need to start shopping now!

Good grief, Oprah is going to have no part in regulating a non-government business; lest she regulate herself.  She likes to tell stories of things people COULD NOT CONTROL and, well, eBay isn't that; you can CHOOSE to LEAVE eBay.  If eBay holds you at gunpoint, then Oprah will talk to you; otherwise, she's going to think you're a dumbass.   And she'd be right.

Oh my, I'm really, really going to hurt someone today.  Idiocy abounds there at PSU.  I guess my banning was the best thing that ever happened, otherwise I might hunt some fools down.

which i suppose is fair as this is thier full time job and disclosure could be open to bids coming for the site from the big companies to buy them out

Well....I'll not shoot the messenger, but that's what we say in the states .... 'smoke and mirrors'. Why in the world would anybody pay $60 to join a site that won't disclose results?

I'll watch and wait and see! No money outa pocket for me - I got my Gold membership free!

Hey merlin_man - perhaps you're forgetting a few things I've shared with you a few times already.

1. I left ebaY in 2005.

2. I've already been to ebid - did it for a long while in 2006 time frame.

3. I had 2 sales - both NPBs - took a bit to get my fees refunded.

4. Not very much traffic.

5. Still have an account there. Still have a store there - just no listings.

6. I did market and promote. I flew a banner and shared my 'home' with folks.

7. With 90% of my buyers being USA, perhaps they had a discomfort with an international site - dunno - but they did not follow me, nor buy from me there.

8. However, at that same time, they did follow and buy from me on Yahoo Auctions (now gone) and also on another site/two.

9. I'm a realist. I've been test-driving sites for 3 years now - more than 25-30 of them if I were to count. How many other sites have you tried?

10. I support all sellers on ALL sites. I will not waste any more of MY resources, money, time, etc. unless or until there is some level of 'proven success' at a site.

Keep in mind, I am much smarter than I was 3 years ago. Back then, I did exactly as you want. I went and joined every site and started listing. Myself and others spent more hours than we should have trying to test all sites. So - if I appear to inquire, there's a business reason. After all, for me - selling online is a 'business venture'.

And - if you look around here, I've always ensured my primary goal of supporting any/all sellers at any/all sites is # 1. That's why we are here - not to promote YOUR preferred site over any other. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
