Yah Erin a link to which of the thread it's in would be nice. I haven't been regularly reading some of the boycot threads any more as they are just to much for me to stomach so I don't know which of the many your in right now.

And I'll try to find the thread at eBid that tells when they upload to GP.

Dennise - yes....I agree - many of these posters are so used to the ebaY way, they say the darndest things!!!

Carol - in this thread, at every turn among the chaos.... http://www.powersellersun...er=asc&&start=240
 - should take you to the page where it's 'deferred' as off-topic by the moderators....even tho the whole darn thread is -  is where it ends....

Page 16 - Post 232, 233, 235 and 236 and then 239 & 240

And...the full moon continues!  Geez......what gives with some folks?

http://www.powersellersun...topic.php?p=147363#147363

What a way to promote a site.....  hysterical hysterical

For Deecan:

OP - starraider25:

I see a lot of people on alternative auctionsites having a banner in their siggy promoting their store there. I think that's a mistake. I believe that sellers should be promoting their auctionsite, NOT their store. At least when it comes to FREE banners in signatures.

I don't click on those store banners because it's unlikely they have something I want, but I'd click on a banner to a new (to me) auctionsite because it's more likely that I'll find what I want there, rather than in just someone's store.

Promoting your auctionsite also communicates to other people that you have faith in that auction, while store banner just shows that you want to sell something. And if you use an auctionsite banner rather than a store one, the people who join that auction, will make it grow, which will benefit you also.

So I recommend that people start promoting their auctionsite, instead of (or in addition of) just their store.

A new auction site owner.....

ok will do, here is ours, sorry no banner. just a link
   hysterical

Me:

BTDT - got the t-shirt to prove it. Thanks - but I prefer to promote my business. I feel that Mo is blessed to have me!!!!

In all honesty, I'm not 'here' to promote a site. I'm here to help others and promote myself.

Mo:

Erin, your check is in the mail.

Me:

Sorry Mo ---- I just could not resist!!!

Mo:

Neither could I!!!

Merlin_man (quoted my response above) and says...

so your only here to promote yourself sorry but i find that selfish , i thought the whole point of power sellers unite was to promote OTHER SITES not your own sales , i have never put a link to my own store anywhere and would never dream of doing so if your that desperate for a sale maybe you should be doing carboots not auctions , now i understand why you are soooooooooo anti ebid , you have said it all in 2 sentences
i`m alright jack screw you lot what a nice way to go

Me:

merlin_man - well ---- Happy Freaking Monday to you too! Your post above, and the many defensive posts in the other threads is not at all what PSU is about - regular people here do not personalize 'it' when another member asks questions or shares their experience about a site.

Obviously, you don't get out much, and since you post in only the 2 boycott threads doing nothing BUT promoting a site to get buddy points, let me just share a few things!

I am here to help others and myself. You decided to miss the first point of my post above, and drill in on the second. Perfectly fine - but narrow minded.

My goals are not to draw, attract, refer and get points, but rather to help sellers find the mix that works for them. Congrats. to you, by the way, for leading in buddy points at ebid.

My goal is to promote, support and help all sellers, no matter which site they want to join, list, sell or buy from.

So - if you ventured beyond your 'cheerleading' long enough to see how long I've been here, how I post, etc. - you would know the above was 'tongue and cheek'.

I did fly a referral banner for a site for a long while. I bent over backwards to attract, promote, recruit, etc. for a site - just like you are. Needless to say, there's a bunch of history that I'll not rehash here. But - it's safe to say that for me, it was an experience WORSE than ebaY and taught me that we each need to be responsible for our own business.

Let's restate the facts, shall we?

I'm not anti ebid - I'm a member there.

I listed for a long while there, and got 2 sales, both NPBs.

You and a few others showed up here (the others seem to have left), and started promoting ebid US as ebid UK members.

I asked for stats, sales, data, etc. to ensure I and other sellers, that use information for decision making, could have more than just UK user experience.

You got 'testy' and have been so ever since.

There's only 2 sites, that I'll not mention that I'll NEVER USE. For both, it's about business integrity. Every other site here, I've got no issue with. Some, in my opinion, work better for ME than others.

So merlin_man - with all due respect, how many of these other sites have you tried?

How can you promote one over the rest if you've not tried them?

How can you say ebid will get US sellers sales when you sell on the UK side?

Sorry starraider25 for the distraction here, but my first post is correct. I did do that, and got kicked in the teeth and the backside for promoting one site over others. And, I don't have a tee-shirt, but I do have a fridge magnet, so I may have fibbed a bit!!

I see in one of MM's first posts in your list he has the criteria for the eBid GP postings. On the 8th, 18, and 28. I know that was different way back when. The problem with my listings is I think my listings are set for 10 day recycle at eBid and right now they are "out of sync" with their criteria.

The 1 that he posted is set for like 3 months. That isn't the best method either as listings more than 30 days old are called "stale" by GP.

I need to re-do my listings at just about all my sites as I never changed things for the last post office hike and on a few sales I've been losing money on the postage. When I make the changes I'll see about a longer time frame for my listings at eBid and see how they do then.

The thing tho that I think you don't understand about eBid is that while you register under a specific site, I'm pretty sure that when just browsing on the site, it's all together in 1 for the listings. I'm not exactly sure how they seperate out stuff as far as to which countries you "sell to". Maybe you only see things listed for your country when you log-in and do a search.

Plenty of things about eBid are a bit of a "huh", but it's not worth stressing over it for me. My stuff is kind of on semi-auto-pilot over there and I do get a few sales.

Oh I agree with you on the "I'm going to promote MY site" not the listing site in general. I used to have several sites in my siggy. When the HB sh!t first started about a year ago or so I took out ALL sites except my own.

If the alt site needs some promoting they can come do it themself as fas as I'm concerned. A few of the owners do. For those that don't contribute to the conversations at PSU, well I do my part by getting people to my listings that are on their site. If buyers want to see  other stuff, I think most can figure out how to back out of a listing to get to the site in general.

Everything else is just "eBay think".

Carol - going from memory, I believe buyers can chose (like ebay) if they want to see global listings or just 'local'.  I may be wrong, but that's what I recall.

I have no qualms at all about ebid - if it works, use it.  I get tired of the cheerleaders that can't back things up with facts.

As an example, he's been there - I think he said 5 years.  Well....his feedback looks impressive, but starting on page 8, it's imported from another site - which could be ebay or could be yahoo or could be both.

If folks are having sales - super yippee, no matter the site.  But - if you're going to put your 'neck' out to promote, you have got to have thick skin, and be prepared to answer questions.

I'm not sure about the "global vs local" as I rarely browse on some of the sites. They have also "changed" the site twice in the last 15-18 months so several things are different there now than when we jioned when they first opened the USA part.

Yah it gets tiresome when we run into some of these sellers that have "zoned in" on just 1 site. As we've found out, what works for you doesn't necessarily mean it will also work for me.

BTW, I answered that post  and told him it was vulgar and out of line.

And yes I did see the thread above directed at Erin. Have you not gotten the feeling that it is out with the old and in with the new at PSU yet while the mods and PSUNite stand by to make it happen?
