The time change is this weekend.
Monday is the first day of LEAP and iLeap testing. (Pass is required to advance from 4th to 5th grade and 8th to 9th grade.)

Who is the frickin' genius that scheduled this? I called the school board, wrote the paper and call radio shows.

In addition to this the renewal of a 1 cent 'temporary' sales tax for schools is up for a vote Saturday. Way to endear the voters school board.

I dread next week - it's hard enough to adjust to the time change - our spring break starts on Wednesday.... 

Mine will be 'here' for almost 2 full weeks....just what I wanted - NOT!!

The school board is a joke. The schools with magnet or gifted programs are fine but the Feds are about to swoop in and take over the rest of them. They have a surplus of money,  , but can't seem to teach at those schools.

Why do I think that would be more help than I need? 

Mine get off on Good Friday and following week. DH is taking that week off too. When do I get my vacation? We may take the boys to the Audobon Zoo in New Orleans. It will be the first time we have gone down there

The KC, MO school district has been screwed up for years.  So, being close to it and having 3 highly rated districts in Johnson County, the wonderful city has put up a bunch of apartments, and we have a huge influx of students, that are unfortunately is need of extra time/energy from teachers to get caught up. 

So - while our district and school system is pretty darn good, it's getting sucked dry by those neighboring areas that can't get their education system functioning right.  Our schools are overcrowded, and I am very grateful that my boys, for the most part, do not struggle academically.  The entire Education System, IMO, needs an overhaul.  I think Health Care should be a #1 priority for our country, followed closely by the education system.

My boys are irritated with me because I won't let them stay up as late as usual on non-school nights. I am also going to take them to school so they can at least sleep a little later.

Do you think Ohio and Louisiana got together on this?

Dennise, I'm driving Boy #3 to school all week too!
He usually gets a ride from Boy #2, but the Seniors don't have to be to school until 10:00 am because of the testing. If Boy #3 had to take the bus he would have to get up a half hour earlier too!
The bus comes at 6:10 am!

my 13yo and my 14yo have a transfer bus they can catch at 5:30am. School starts at 7:25am
