I come to you today with a mission of need for a fellow Crab. One of our forum members emailed me this morning with some heart breaking news. I can't share who or what the news is at this time. I do however know that this person/persons is in need of financial help to help with medical bills among other things. I may be able to reveal more details about the circumstances at a later point in time but at the time of posting this the persons were not available to ok revealing it. However, once I received the email this morning Deb and myself donated to this family in need. We also worked out a temporary donation system where you can donate $5 at a time through Paypal. So far we have only managed to get this onto my posting ID but we are also working to expand it to The Tavern Wench ID.

If you look in any of my posts you will see a small beer mug "buy me a beer" located under my karma. See screenshot below:

I challenge you to BUY ME A BEER while all donations will go directly to this persons Paypal account. I thank you for your understanding and encourage you to donate or just keep this very special Crab in your prayers!!!

Joe - a quick question....then I'll buy ya  a beer.....

Is it 'better' to pay ya thru GCO?  Then the whole beer price will be usable vs. a PP Portion?  If that sounds great, send me a GCO Invoice - if better to do with PP, just say so.

I'll be here 4 a min. or so, but back again later this evening :nono: :nono: :nono:.  I now have no voice and the whole darn cold/virus/whatever is in my head, ears, throat - I think I am really sick!!!!  :xmaseek: :xmaseek: :xmaseek: - day 10 - what a PITA!!

To answer your question and elaborate a little on this, NO for the google checkout at this time. If you click on the "Buy Me a Beer" mug you will notice it does not take you to my Paypal. It takes you directly to the Party who the donation is intended for or rather The Pet Guy (TPG).

I have received permission to share why I started this donation drive so here goes with what I can say at this time.

I received an email from TPG this morning (whom I met on another forum and befriended right from the start). The substance of that email was to alert myself and Deb of his wife's medical condition (TCH member Flying High) of which conformation was received a short time ago. Flying High has a treatable form of Cancer that was only discovered within the past few days. This is the icing on the cake in a year that has been difficult at best for TPG and Flying High considering the closure of their long standing B&M store. The transition from B&M to solely online sales has been and is continuing to be an uphill battle for them.

Below is a copy of a few lines from a PM from TPG to me that has touched me in a way I can't describe:

Quote
Even with all of this, we are safe, warm and still in love with each other and life in general. With friends, we have never met like all of you how could we want for more. This is more than most people get in a lifetime.

And the last line:
Quote
Truly, all we ask is a warm thought and we will be fine.

Now I know I can help and together we can all help. This forum was setup with the intentions of helping online sellers. Sorry rolling back my own tears at this point.

To The Pet Guy & Flying High
My thoughts and prayers are with you both. I am a privileged man just to have known you. Whatever I can do to help I am there.

With Our sincerest Love
Joe & Deb

Martha and I would like too openly thank Joe and Deb for the kind words and deeds they have shown us over the past few days. We used the money donated by them and other “Crabs”  to get her some pain medications that should hold until her operation in a week or so. Not having insurance is causing a problem. We are glad to have this forum to talk too people about this.

To everyone here we hope for a happy holiday. To those who have helped us, you know who you are; we send a special hug of appreciation.

Your friends for life

TPG & FH,
I am really beside myself right now...I want so much to help you out but, things as they are I am currently unable to.  I feel like a heel here...

However, you both are in my prayers and on my mind.  I also want to wish both of you a Merry Christmas filled with peace and joy.

You have helped; here everyone has by your thoughts. We had a great Christmas.

We just got back home from her CT scan to see how far this has spread. She is very tired and is going too go to bed. I hope no one objects to my posting here. I know this is a family matter but "family" doesn't always mean being blood related. Some of you, wanting to or not have become an important part of our family.

Posting and reading post here has become a routine part of my day. It is like all of you are therapist and I am your patient.
