Hi! My name is Sue.

« on: November 24, 2007, 06:23:58 PM »

OMG!!!!
I'm sitting here in my office and I'm right next to the window that overlooks the street.
I hear a thud!
I looked out and saw a car slow down and a deer stumbling around.
I knew the kid that hit it, I recognized the car.
So I went outside and he was calling his mom.
That poor deer was trying to get up but couldn't.
So the kid came in the house and we called the non-emergency police.
He went out to wait and I saw the police car, the policeman walked over to it with his flashlight and looked around a little.
I'm thinking to myself, "He wouldn't shoot it here, right?"
The next thing I heard was a gunshot!
This is all unfolding in front of my house.
Okay, now everyone is gone except the dead deer and I'll let you know what happens next.

I'll be in the bar if anyone needs me.

Sue,
OMG that sucks big time. Poor deer.
Yes you do need your own personal mini keg to handle that one

I would love my own keg!
The deer is still there, I know because I keep looking out my window at it!
I'm a little worried because it's not that late and kids might spot it.
I'll be happy when they take it away.

How does that work? Who comes to get it?

You may need to put in a call or five tomorrow - if it's left to your local muni, it's a real possibility that it won't be important until Monday.  And - you're right - kids seeing that is not good.

Man...that is not good!  I can see the deer having to be put down but...they should have at least covered it and then had it taken away.  That happens quite a bit here this time of year but the animal is usually the first one gone from the scene, either a farmer takes it away or the County comes and gets it.

I feel for you...that is not right at all!

I am assuming it's still there?  Around here, often our muni has the priorities all mixed up -  !!  Someone parks on the wrong street - here they come, ticket or whatever.  However, road kill on a beautiful blvd. - left for days.... sniff troll

Frustrating at best!!

Update:
My husband got up first this morning and he saw a front-loader scoop up the poor dead deer at about 8:00 this morning. I'm glad I slept in.
I'm not sure what a front-loader is, he's not one to give too many details.
But it's gone.

In this area we are conditioned to watch for deer, but our house doesn't have any woods close to it. We've seen the deer around the house before, that's why I don't have a garden anymore, but it's usually very late at night.
So I guess now I have to watch for deer also when I back out of my driveway!

I'm so glad they got it picked up.  I'm a 'softy' and when there are hit/dead animals, it just makes me sad...

Congrats. on the sleeping in - I did too....which means 6am vs. 5am -  hysterical hysterical

Liz, my Sundays are spent in the kitchen cooking for the crew! Not much drama going on in there!
Oh and another one just pulled in the driveway, gotta go feed him now!
