Sometimes you have to slow down to go faster.

January 7 2008 I will be sixty years old. I used to think people who were 35 were close to being dead; now 70 is middle aged.  So I guess in ten years I will either be middle age, or from the middle ages.  :ermm:

Strange how the perception has changed...It seems like by the time I reach what ever the current "middle age" is, it's still 10 years ahead of me.

When my grandparents reached 60 they were talking retirement for a few years and then being so feeble that they had to sit in rocking chairs on the front porch.  My grandfather lived well into his 70s.

Now, being 60 is nothing...still making plans for the next 20 or more years.  So, I guess you're not old, just aging...like a fine boxed wine...   (I need more coffee...)

My parents are low-mid 70's, and do not seem old to me!  My Oldest Bro turned 50 in 07, and while we are talking about aging - I think you're only as 'old as ya feel'.

Some days I feel 80 and other days I feel 15 - go figure!   :nono: :nono:

My mom is 84... my oldest bro is 62, my younger bro will be 59 on the 4th. I will be !#$%#54$%#@$! sometime this year.

But this is tolerable when I realize my x hubby is 61 this year.

I will hit 60 in a year and a month, so I'm getting there too. But hubby will be 65 this spring.

Same here too about "old as you feel". Some days I feel older than my mother (86). Especially when the weather is acting up like now - cold and damp/snowing most of the week.

I try not to think about it too much, but then I go out to do something and the body just can't hack it any more some days.

Carol....I do have to share - while my parents were here, we had 3 snow storms.  Needless to say, they were cold the whole time ----- I had my thermostat on 78 - my boys were wearing gym shorts most of the time... hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical

Yes - we are all getting older - but  --- we're also getting better - right?

Erin,

While the colder weather makes me achy, I really don't mind cooler temps like I used to. I used to really bundle up when skiing or anything outside. Sometimes I would look like a "snowman" I was so bundled-up.

Now since memopause, I don't need 1/2 the sweaters and jackets or blankets I used to. In fact Ray usually has it way too hot here in the house for me.

If I could somehow "control" my natural heat, that would be the only good part of getting older.

Sixty is not old unless you're thirty. And if you're fifteen, thirty is old.

If you're eighty, sixty is your "...younger days..."

Long live RobertJohnston!

Fifty years ago, turning 60 meant that if you were lucky, you might live another 15 years. Now it means that you'll probably live another 25 years.

I like getting older. I really, really do. I would not trade one second of the future to go back and be that energetic green horn of yesterday. Not one second!

Happy 2008 - GLAD YA' MADE IT!!

Carol....I'm 'there' ----- unexpected and early - but doing 'it' as we speak.  My body just can't make up it's mind most days - so I'm thermostat happy.  It's up and then down - up and then down - and for the first time ever - my hubby is wearing socks to sleep!!!

My biggest fear - I'll be doing this stuff 4 ever - since I'm starting early/younger than many!!!

60 is young TPG. I just saw where Diane Sawyer is 62  and look at Tina Turner with those luscious legs she is in her mid sixties and still dancing.

Age really is a state of mind, and I actually look and feel better now in my 40's than I did in my thirties. I am with Rho on this one, who wants to go back in time. The only thing living there are dumb choices, and surviving bad hair dos in the 80's.

When I woke up this morning, I felt like I was 63. Then I took a shower and felt like 47. Then coffee after which I got the 33 feeling. Went outside to let the dog out, the sun was shinning making me feel like I was 24. Martha fixed me a couple of eggs and some bacon. I felt like a kid of 15 with a full stomach. I guess if I get too felling as if I am 2 again I may need a diaper. Wait, now that I think about it that is how I felt when I got up this morning. Go figure.
