Hi! My name is Sue.

« on: December 04, 2007, 07:18:24 PM »

The thing is I've never done business with this bank. Obviously it's some kind of scam. So who do I report it to? Anybody ever seen this one before?

I have no clue where to send those.  I've actually stopped opening messages that I am quite certain are not for me.  I've decided there's way too much risk in even reading them!!!

I would contact your police department and go from there.

I know I am getting way too much of that type of thing and I delete it immediately.  I have received so many of the $500.00 Wal Mart cards that it isn't funny.  Be safe.

Banks don't use Dear Customer, they address you by your name. After all, how can they make sure they have the right customer if your name isn't there.  What the sender wants is your passwords.

Don't give it to them.

This is a phishing email. And do you even have an account with that bank? Call them and verify your account status.

Then toss the email and run some scans.

Bays, visit the first link and see if they can't help you out. I think we both have a pretty good idea of where your spam originates from.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Joe!

I saved those links to my favorites and I will look at them tomorrow.  I know a while back I left a post here about scams and Wal Mart Cards being sent out and for us not to open them or click on the links.

I've gotten numerous emails just like that from several banks I do not do business with.

At first I would go to that banks web site and try to find an email to forward it to like with PP. But most if not all of the bank's site make you log-in first before you can access their email. Since I'm not a customer I obviously can't log-in. So I just tried sending to spoof@(that bank). Most of the time it just bounced back as "unknown".  troll

You would think that a bank would WANT to see all sites spoofing them so they could shut them down pronto, but it just doesn't seem to be the case. I don't know if they are just hiding their hear in the sand or what. But I've given up trying to forward any of them and just do a "report as spam" with my email program and delete.
