The riddles to end all riddles

Ok so lets say the riddles in this thread are a little harder then other threads you have seen so 50 karma points to the winner and I will start because this may take a while (I'm brutal). The winner posts the next riddle but make them hard. One month time limit.


Riddle:

So you are in a basement. In that basement there is 3 light switches and nothing else. No windows and only one door. Upstairs there is 3 lights that are controlled by the 3 switches in the basement and nothing else but an empty house. Each Light switch in the basement controls only 1 light upstairs.

There is a problem with the basement door that if you go out it you can never go back in because it will lock behind you ( you have no key or anything to hold the door open). How do you determine which light switch controls which light upstairs?


Please note there is a simple and logical solution to the problem in hand.

Okay I'm pretty sure that I know the answer by way of common sense and the fact that I learned the hard way myself.  I would post my answer, but then I would have to come up with the next mind boggling riddle and my head already hurts.

So I'm thinking I could guess and Deb could post the next riddle

Okay and unless you have some wild and crazy answer than this is mine.  It has to do with leaving one of the lights switches turned on and allowing it enough time to heat up so you when you do leave the basement you can tell by the feel of the bulb.

Can you give a complete answer and refer to each light and switch?

Now see I read this that you are leaving the basement and going into the house and the door locks behind you. So in my theory I would turn all the light switches to on in the basement because that would turn all the lights on in the house. So when I leave the basement the door would close and lock but I already turned the lights all on.
