I am working on revisions on my about me pages, trying to get organized and be brief but still tell my buyers about me. Can anyone help me out and tell me or are willing to share their about me pages with me so I can get an idea of what the about me page should be about.

Thanks everyone.

My about me page is very simple and does not have much in it.  I am new to zen and just getting familiar with it.  I didn't want to delete the page or leave it empty so I just added a graphic and a little bit of text until I can get back to it.  Your posts keep me motivated to work on things...thanks

That is another area where I did not spend time talking about me and left all my information about the company.  I know I should have something about me but I have often heard that it is safer to not add personal things about yourself on your website.  So that is something that I just thought about getting back to later.

I may be unique, but as a shopper, an 'about me' page should not be about a 'person' - but should be about the company.  I personally skip right over About Me pages that are about the husband, kids, interests, etc.  NOW - in the case of Alana - you are selling a very specialized set of items, that IMO require some expertise.  I would read a bit more about you because everything (or just about everything) you sell is going to be used, 2nd and, vintage.

So - for your about me page, I think it would be fitting to share a 'bit' about your background relative to your business/items.  If you've got hobbies that align with your items/business/collections, I'd give a sentence, maybe 2 - then point them to your blog or squidoo page - where you can expand and they have a choice to indulge further or not.

When I'm writing 'about me' pages, I would to speak to the business elements of my things.
This is where I put:  how long I been buying & selling online, as well as feedback and my pride in customer service.  I also, for a variety of reasons to include security, safety, privacy rarely use I - on anything.  It's always a 'we' ----...

Hope this helps - keep in mind -

See that is what I am thinking too, but my problem is how to get from me to the business.  LOL

That is the same thing I do.  I just do not want to go there either.

Ok, that is where I thought I should be going.  I just can't figure out how to get from a 20 year job in Social Welfare to collecting vintage and giving just about everything up to sell online full time.  LOL.

Back to the drawing board.

Alana - KISS - if you feel the need to mention your 'professional career', I'd do it as that -

For more than 20 years, I worked in the professional world - full time.  However, my passion for the unique, high-quality items of yesteryear kept calling my name.  I decided to follow my heart, and now spend my time searching, finding, collecting and selling ........

Make sense?

It makes perfect sense Erin!  I was at my neighbors this morning for a little while, she was telling me about a position opening near us in my field.  She said you know you have the college degree and everything and they offer such good benefits.  Then she goes on to say, you would be fit for life there and you would not have to work as hard as you do now.

Problem is, I love what I do now, problem was I began to resent what I used to do. Inbetween all that, I had a passion for vintage collectibles.

So yes you make total sense!!!!

  - as we age, we tend to follow our hearts more than our minds, our upbringing, our degree, etc.  So - with the right amount of 'logic' you can write this in a simple way to show those who stop by that you intend to represent and sell the most 'beautiful, unique, OOAK, vintage, ---- you get my drift.

Walk away from your writing for a bit - then revisit after you've pondered without the screen in front of your face.  The words will come - they always do!
