You have a tee shirt it comes in Large medium and small. You set up the attribute settings to show in listings the sizes available with a raido or drop down menu. The problem is how do you control inventory with this setting. In the listing you place the total inventory of the T-shirts. You might have 10 listed. but of those ten you might have 2 small 5 Medium and 3 Large. The listing shows 10. Some one orders 3 small. You only have 2. Customer pays for order because it shows 10 available. My question using how do you control the inventory using these settings?

Bob,

Last time I was checking on this, there wasn't a way to do it built into the standard cart.  I had read someone was working on a mod for that, but I don't know if they ever finished it.  I'll be glad to go search the Zen forums for you and see what I can find out though.  :greenhoho:

Been dealing with this issue for a long time. My best suggestion is this until Zen Cart works out a mod. Set your quantity on hand to reflect the lowest amount available. AKA if you have 10 each for small and medium but only 5 large offer only 5 forsale.

Ok Bob we are in.  hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical Here is the link to download the mod you need.

http://www.zen-cart.com/i..._info&products_id=310

I have been looking for this myself for quite a while. Be sure to do a database backup before you install the mod and I also reccomend you go into Configuration>Stock and turning off the 'check stock level' thing too while you adjust your attributes. You will adjust quantities through this new mod then.

Enjoy!!! I know I have a few weeks worth of adjusting to this myself now.

The reason for this is because until you 'add quantities' to every attribute on every product, it will show all of them as being out of stock if someone tries to make a purchase.  Just flip that to false until you get the amounts entered and you'll be fine though.

This is a fun Mod if you have most of your product up already.

I know I know. It was well worth the work (nearly a week) that this mod took to get to work correctly. I do however recommend that you start out with this mod if you sell with attributes settings (please note this mod wasn't available when I started my sites). I will eventually get around to doing the work on my main site one of these days but I need a good month free  hysterical hysterical hysterical to do it. Please note the back button can save you a lot of time with this mod, you will know what I mean if you go to use it.

Ok so now I can finally call this Mod a success I would like to display the difference of 2 of my carts. Same product, one with the SBA mod installed one without.

with the SBA mod:

without the SBA mod:

So what did this mod do that is so important?

1) I can display the actual inventory on hand and when one sells it will deduct the inventory from the on hand and the individual size.

2) It takes the quessing out. As Bob asked in the OP

Problem solved!!!

A few things I did notice is this:

The SBA mod will not work for multiple attributes.

In order to get the QTY per size to show in the dropdown there was a tweak (uploaded a file) that needed to be done.

Hope this helps!

I do need to correct one thing here, which I think I didn't explain clearly to Joe in the first place...or maybe he was still recooperating from being in Attribute Hell and just didn't pay attention.

The Stock by Attributes (SBA) mod DOES work with multiple attributes.
The 'tweak' I used to display the quantity in stock on the product listing page is what doesn't work with multiple attributes.

They may have devised a fix for this too, but I'll be honest I didn't research it after I found the tweak I needed.   hysterical

Note to self - Contact the Zen forum and see if they can IP ban Deb once she reaches her daily tweak allowance.

Hell? No, but I must say this mod the way it is setup in my cart is not for the novice Zen users. If you frustrate easy just back away.  hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical
