Zen Cart v1.3.8 Released

A new version of ZenCart has just been released.  You can find the download and a list of the changes in this thread at the ZenCart support forum:   v1.3.8 Released!

Now...just a FYI for those of you with previous versions of Zen Cart:


1) Upgrading is NOT mandatory.  It is optional.  I always look at the list of changes first to see if they will benefit MY cart/website.  Then I decide if it's a big enough change to warrant doing the upgrade.

2) BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP before you upgrade!!  This way if it doesn't go well (which is very possible) you can hopefully put your shop back.

3) The only set of files I see in the link right now are a FULL RELEASE version.  THIS IS NOT A SET OF UPGRADE FILES.   You will need to download the whole complete version and manually pick out the files needed do an upgrade.   (Please see my note below!)
This is what the Zen thread says:

FOR A DETAILED LIST OF CHANGES, as well as INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, look in the /docs/ folder of the zip file.  The list of changed files is also there.

This means it is IMPERATIVE to read these documents before attempting an upgrade.

I have not downloaded this file or done an upgrade on my sites yet.  I did want to post this to make everyone aware that it was available and to also let them know that it is not mandatory to do this upgrade ASAP.  Your current Zen Cart will continue working just fine without this upgrade for the time being.

I'm going to do an upgrade on one of our sites later today.  Afterwards I'll be able to let you know how well it went or didn't. 

Main thing to remember...don't panic and rush into upgrading.

I was one of those that rushed in.

The end result was my site was down ALL day!   

I have not long got it fixed.

So don't do it unless youo have to, which you don't. 

 I was lucky I managed to get it fixed. Not sure how, but it caused me nothing but a headache .

 So please make sure you NEED the changes that come with this upgrade.
