Have you ever wondered how or why your items were showing up with 3 pounds of extra wieght? Well here is the answer. It's because it comes preset that way from the cart install. Line 4 in Configuration > Shipping/Packaging will read like this from install:
Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight 0:3
So all you need to do is make it read like this:
Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight 0:0
