Hi folks.

After seeing Mo's excellent stats over at PH I decided to find out what this Quantcast thing is.

It seems really good so got Quantified and just installed the little widget thing to IWAC.

So it will be intresting to see how much that rank goes down.

Well done to Mo on her stats and i hope we can do something similar with IWAC...

It is fun.. Congrats IWAC!!!

Right now its got to catch up to your true level. Then it will level out. But there isn't any manipulation in this as it records the unique hits to your site and page views.

Alexa only records toolbar traffic and is too easily manipulated.

Mo - I am sure I've asked this before, but am doing so again!!!!  With Alexa, doesn't it only record visits from users of their toolbar?  So, me - I have no tool bars installed for any site.  Therefore, even though I'm a seller, so obviously on the PH or IWAC site frequently - it would never 'capture' me - is that how Alexa works?    - my allowed numpty question of the day!!!!

Hi Erin.

Because you don't have the toolbar Alexa will not pick up your visit to either site. However Quantcast will.

Thats right Erin.. Alexa only records those who have the toolbars.  I know alot of people don't like the toolbar.. but... At least they tell you upfront.. "WE Record your movements on the web. We disengage when you are on a secure page (log-in type)" And I have seen the toolbar change from showing stats to not showing stats as I moved from non secure to secure pages.

Unlike those who put tracking cookies on your computer without your knowledge or permission.  Thats invasion.

I have had the toolbar since Dec 04, when Bid-alot broke 100,000.

Now there is an alexa widget on the front of PH.. and I'm monitoring that with server traffic and Q traffic... but.... Alexa's results are displayed differently so I have to try see if the results are comparable.
