Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons!

Okay,  here goes.  Its going to sort of sound like I am picking on you, please do not think that ...I just want to be sure of things before jumping into it.

I went and checked out the IWAC and the first thing I noticed was that it is php script.  I have been through 2 meltdowns of php script sites.  I know of a few others that have done very well with php.  Is your site ready to handle massive amounts of listings or will "the tables collapse"?  (that is what I've heard twice now is that "tables" thingy)

Next, I see the costs listed in GBP.  I am looking at starting out with a free store right now so...is there any difference between the GBP and US dollar as far as those fees?

Third and last question (for the moment).  What is the verification fee for a seller?

Now to answer your questions and concerns.

To answer this honestly.

I can give no definate answer on this, but i can say that at the start of the year we did have in excess of 7K listings with no lose to items, no loss to site performance.

As we have never gone past the 8K listings mark i cannot tell you the answer to taht question.

We are using the latest script version of probid and although there are few minor glitches, which all sites on this script are encountering, and these are very easy to work around. Most of the time these glitches are not even noticed. We have addressed these in the forum too. And are working towards a fix.

All in all I believe we are ready to handle massive amounts of listings.

The fees are set in GBP, for US sellers the fees will be calculated based on the current exchange rate. We have a feature that allows us to use live currency exchange. When the market changes so does our system. The curent exchange rate is £1 = $2.12 which answers your last question...

Third and last question (for the moment).  What is the verification fee for a seller?

Although with the free store option there are no listing fees there are optional upgrade and FVF's to pay. With the Preferred Seller store you pay £2.50 ($5.29) and that is all you would pay. Obviously this will get better as the currency exchange market levels out again.

We do backups once every second day or so and are looking to start daily backups real soon.

I hope i answered your questions / concerns and a little more information too.

Any other questions or queries don't hesitate in asking.

Regards

I just remembered the 4th question.  If I want to have 2 stores do I need to have 2 email addresses?

No problem Kevin.

I always try to give more information just incase there are other questions that are missed.

Thats right you will need to use a separate email address for multiple accounts.

Thanks once again.  More thinking time and then, unless I find a major problem, I will be signing up.  Sounds like this will be the answer to at least one of the things I am dealing with right now.

Kevin:

I'm not certain of which 2 sites you refer to for phpprobid sites, but know 1 of them.  I am 100% convinced it was operator error.  I can't speak for the second one, and I may be wrong but....isn't AQ on phpprobid?  It's got 90k+ listings and running fast and smooth....

Just thinking outloud!

Rob:  Is the verification process/fee only available then for the preferred sellers?  I'm just not 'tracking' here!!    (I can be such a noob at times....)

Hi Erin.

The verification is for everyone, buyers and sellers.
Owners of all store types too.

I think what has both of us confused is How are we verified?  And what does this verification cost.

Hi Guys.

You are verified through your Paypal account, Google Checkout account or your Nochex account (Uk members mainly).

The verification is optional and you do not have to be verified in order to sell or set up a store on IWAC.

We also don't like clicking the verified button in admin as this sets a false sense of security for the buyer.

Hi Erin.

The fee is £1 GBP which is a little over $2USD.
