Hi Kevin.
All questions, queries or concerns are welcome. We don't take offence to viewpoints either.
Now to answer your questions and concerns.
I went and checked out the IWAC and the first thing I noticed was that it is php script. I have been through 2 meltdowns of php script sites. I know of a few others that have done very well with php. Is your site ready to handle massive amounts of listings or will "the tables collapse"? (that is what I've heard twice now is that "tables" thingy)
To answer this honestly.
I can give no definate answer on this, but i can say that at the start of the year we did have in excess of 7K listings with no lose to items, no loss to site performance.
As we have never gone past the 8K listings mark i cannot tell you the answer to taht question.
We are using the latest script version of probid and although there are few minor glitches, which all sites on this script are encountering, and these are very easy to work around. Most of the time these glitches are not even noticed. We have addressed these in the forum too. And are working towards a fix.
All in all I believe we are ready to handle massive amounts of listings.
Next, I see the costs listed in GBP. I am looking at starting out with a free store right now so...is there any difference between the GBP and US dollar as far as those fees?
The fees are set in GBP, for US sellers the fees will be calculated based on the current exchange rate. We have a feature that allows us to use live currency exchange. When the market changes so does our system. The curent exchange rate is
£1 = $2.12 which answers your last question...
Third and last question (for the moment). What is the verification fee for a seller?
Although with the free store option there are no listing fees there are optional upgrade and FVF's to pay. With the Preferred Seller store you pay £2.50 ($5.29) and that is all you would pay. Obviously this will get better as the currency exchange market levels out again.
We do backups once every second day or so and are looking to start daily backups real soon.
I hope i answered your questions / concerns and a little more information too.
Any other questions or queries don't hesitate in asking.
Regards
Rob
