Thank you for the information. I have 3 more weeks of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation.

I do have a hard time staying dehydrated. I cannot drink water it taste like metal. I do try to drank flavored water. I can drink diet Pepsi. My sugar levels are low so OK there.

Nausea is a problem the chemo I am on is the worse for nausea. I have 5 different meds to prevent nausea now. I get the 3 pills next week. I hope they still work. Chemo this week was real bad. I could not eat or drink. I was so sick for 2 days. I lost 4 pounds. I will get in trouble for that. I have lost 24 pounds total.

I cannot eat meat or stand the smell of it. My diet when I can eat goes like this baked potato with sour cream, apple pie, banana pudding, crackers and cream cheese. Once in a while a biscuit with jelly.I will have to get the cottage cheese and peaches did not think about that. (that does sound good)

I also have instant breakfast for the vitamins several times a day.

Thank you for the information it does help. It is a hard road for any one to go down. I am looking forward to the end of it.

I know what you mean about the metal taste. It definitely makes certain things taste bad!
I use to love sierra mist soda but now it just tastes terrible. I have been able to drink a Mugs root beer every once in awhile.

Have you tried yogurt or jello?
I found 2 yogurts that worked for me and they are the strawberry and peach. The jello is ok as long as I don't eat the orange ones they seem to give me heartburn and that is another side effect of the chemo I hated.

I never though of puddings! The banana one sounds pretty good! I might have to give that a go.

Just hang in there you will get through this!!!

Ladyrock I am so glad you are sharing with Martha, and all of us. It really helps to hear from somebody who has been there.

Martha have you given Ensure a try? It is liquid but has alot of nutrition. My dad liked the vanilla. He didn't have chemo, sadly the type of cancer he had was already far spread by the time they found out.

He was able to keep his energy levels up with the Ensure. He didn't care for the chocolate BTW he said it tasted like milk of magnesia

Hugs to you today  and of course my daily dose of white light. I feel like Luke Skywalker.

The doctor told me to drink Carnation instant breakfast for the vitamins. So I try to drink 2 or 3 a day. It is nice to hear what someone else has to say helps. I got some cottage cheese and peaches today. Anything is worth a try.

The phone calls from Erin were a pleasent change in my routine. It helps to be able to talk to someone.

Also reading the book you sent me helps to. It helps to read when I am real sick and cannot get out of bed. I try not to think about the sickness and read my way through it.

I'll track ya down this week!! Tell your hubbie and son to behave this time - I might have to do a road trip to protect ya from the males of your home - I have to 'swing my bat' around here at times....

Martha,
My mom used to live on carnation instant breakfast. She loved that stuff.
Whatever you can find that tastes good and is nutritious then stick with it.

Glad you are reading the book.

We luv ya

My aunt swore by the book One Bite at a Time by Rebecca Katz. Your library have it or get it through interlibrary loan.

Good morning friends

It is almost 3am. I have to take Martha to her fourth chemo treatment in a few hours so I better try getting some sleep. She had some peaches with cottage cheese also a baked potato tonight. Thank everyone for your food suggestions they help her decide what to try. I have been reading page after page of post here for the past few hours. Everything is getting blurred.

Good night / good morning which ever fits your needs.
