Stupidity is its own punishment.

« on: January 20, 2008, 11:57:40 AM »

I have some good news and some bad news.

First, THE GOOD NEWS:

I just made some changes to the mandatory display of the Sellers Information.  I turned it off.  hysterical hysterical hysterical

I don't know about all of you, but if you're like me you don't really like publicizing your real name and phone number for just anyone to see.  Some don't mind...call me cautious.

So...I fixed it where it DOES NOT automatically include this info in your listings.  Instead there are blank OPTIONAL fields for you to fill in whatever information you want to make available.

The new fields are:

Contact Info  -  This will hold up to three (3) lines of text where you can put your business name, phone number, email address...whatever you want or nothing at all.
Website - self explanatory  hysterical

Now, THE BAD NEWS:

When I turned the setting off that automatically shows the sellers contact info...it removed the name, phone number and email address from your current listings.  You will need to edit your active listings to fill in the new fields if you want this info showing.

Sorry.  sniff sniff sniff sniff sniff

I promise to behave and not do anything like this again...unless Joe wants something else changed.

Just kidding Joe!!! hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical

We did this so we would still know who you are, but it's your decision on how much personal info to make public.  If either of these fields end up being 'too small' let me know and I'll make adjustments.

You rock Deb thank you for thinking of our safety and putting the time and effort into tweaking.  We all know how much you hate to tweak  love grin

Thanks Marci!!

I also just added a new field for 'Payments Accepted'.

This is a dropdown box where you can select what combination of different payment types you will accept.  I hope I got a good variety listed, but just in case I added 'Other-See Description'.  hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical

Also!!  I fixed the Shipping Cost section where you can enter a dollar amount and/or text (up to 30 characters).

We do need to make mention...at this time, there is no inventory control.  It will not deduct from the quantity shown if someone makes a purchase.  We're checking into getting this changed, but for the time being, it's up to the seller to keep up with it.  Sorry.  sniff

Woo-hoo.....you all rock!  I do have to say that I didn't even notice about payment information - how funny is that?      I've always put my payment methods into my item description so it missing didn't even phase me - but I am surprised I didn't notice... Can I blame it on being a nurse (not by choice) for a while?  Or perhaps raising 2 teenagers at once?  Or....never mind - just chalk it up to numptyism and it's all good!!

I did notice the phone # and contact stuff so had modified mine.  I put in the 876-7305 (Jenny Jenny number)...  hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical hysterical ... intending to ask you all - and also let it slip my mind!!

One thing (don't know if it's difficult or not) - while I was 'missing' the one day listing interval, I tried to go back and extend (thru edit) one item to 7 days.  The system wanted to charge me.  I understand why that 'function and fee is there - just wonder if there's some tweaking that can be done to accept change within the first xx hours or days or something....make sense?

Loving the listing process - it's fast and easy!  As you tweakers get your fingers going, I'd love a sell similiar - what a gift that would be.

Great job!!  toast

Took a look at this today Erin. Unfortunatly this is a grey area. You can only extend a listing for 7 days now, we changed that today and lowered the extending fee. You can't edit the duration inside the listing at this time but I do realize that 1 day is default in the dropdown. We are working to correct that to make 7 days or more the default. Just a side note so you know, we will be running promotions in the future that will utilize the 1 day duration.

Deb termed it best earlier today to me about the listing extension. It's the stupid tax. Try not to use it and relist your item instead.

Joe (and Deb):  Thanks for looking into that!  Truly it's a 'me' issue - as I just forget and skip by it....  Joe  I'll be more mindful - eh?

Today, we took down the Christmas tree and 'stuff'.  That was an adventure with 2 teen-agers that were grounded and truly had no interest in helping me - or being around me.

But - it's done!  I had to re-arrange the furniture in my great room (dunno why...) while we were at it, so it was an all day adventure!    rah rah

Gotta rustle up some dinner - later good folks!!
